How much is a flying lesson?

Prices start from as little as £90.00.

Can I buy a flight for a gift?

You can purchase a trial lesson that comes in a presentation card to give as a gift, this flight will count towards their Private Pilot’s Licence if they wish to take up flying. The lesson will be in a four seat Cessna 172 aircraft or two seat Cessna C152. The price includes the instructor. A gift voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

What if the weather is bad on the day we have booked?

Always ring the UFC before leaving home to save a journey and then be disappointed however, your instructor will make a decision based on safety whether to fly or not, if the decision is made not to fly you can re-book the flight and will not be charged or penalized.

How many people can fly?

In our four seat aircraft (Cessna 172) there can be 3 people in total, one person sits in the pilot's seat, and two rear seat passengers can also fly at no extra cost. In our two seater aircraft (Cessna 152) only the instructor and student pilot can fly.

I have received a voucher, what do I do next?

Telephone (028) 9181 3327 to book your flight. We will require the voucher number, duration and a telephone number. If you wish to fly on a weekend, we may require 3 week’s notice.

My gift voucher is about to expire, can I extend it?

Yes, gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase but we can extend the voucher. It will cost £30.00 per month of extension required.

Is the Ulster Flying Club insured?

Yes, the UFC carries full insurance on all of the aircraft they operate.

Are the instructors properly trained?

All UFC instructors are trained to full Civil Aviation Authority standards and must prove their competency to the Chief Flying Instructor before being allowed to take students and passengers

Can I take photographs?

Yes, that is no problem

Are there any medical requirements to take a lesson?

If you wish to train towards you PPL then you will need to get a medical from the Civil Aviation Authority, but there are no medical requirement to take a Trial Lesson.

Are there any weight restrictions to take a lesson?

Yes, due to aircraft structural limitations. Please call us to discuss.

What age can I start flying at?

The minimum age to go solo is 16 so you can base your training around that however; there is no upper or lower age barriers to take a Trial Lesson. Booster seats are available
