Welcome to the Ulster Flying Club  The Ulster Flying Club (UFC) was founded in 1961 and over this period has grown to become Northern Ireland's largest flying school and one of the largest, non commercial training, flying organizations in Ireland.
Since commencing operations from Newtownards aerodrome the UFC has established itself as a leading provider of aviation services, ranging from trial lessons to PPL training, night ratings to IMC all provided in a friendly and welcoming environment. Microlight lessons are also available from the Ulster Microlight Centre, an aviation partner of the UFC.
All instructors with the UFC are trained to Civil Aviation Authority highest standards and combined they fly over 2500 instructional hours each year, no mean feat. Hand in hand with an impeccable safety record the UFC can be proud to provide safety minded and experienced staff, to make your time with us as enjoyable and trouble free as is possible.
 So why not come along and see the wide range of services provided at the Ulster Flying Club, you can view the airfield from our picnic area situated at the front of the Clubhouse and we are sure you will be bitten by the "flying bug!"

The discussion forums are now availble by clicking the link on the top or the right menu. I hope these will enchance the flying club aspect of Newtownards. There are a number of forums: Flying Discussion, Student Pilots, Fly-outs, For Sale and Group Flying. The Fly-outs forum is especially important, if you are planning a trip, why not post here to tell people about it and have more aircraft fly with you? The club is having a BBQ on Sun 8th June from 13:00 to 18:00. Come along and watch the Ultimate High Extra 300s perform aerobatics. Tickets for this delicious food are available from the office now and cost £5 for an adult and £3 for a child. |

Aerobatics at Ards - Sun 8th June |
|
 Ultimate High are bringing Extra 300 aircraft to Newtownards. This is an excellent opportunity to try some aerobatic flying on Sun 8th June. There are 2 sorties: Aerobatic Adventure where you fly aeros under the supervision of ex-RAF pilots and Top Gun Aerial Combat Flights where two aircraft take off in formation before tail chasing around the skies with the mission to shoot the other down, a trail of smoke will pour from the lead aircraft on a direct hit.

 On Saturday 7th June join the stars of ITV's Emmerdale for this truly once in a lifetime experience - as you fly an Extra 300 aircraft and go loop-the-loop at Newtownards! The new grass taxiway from 26/34 to the apron is now available for use. This taxiway is not licensed. Pilots should exercise care when using because of rough ground, slopes and ditch along south-eastern edges. |

The webcam is now online. Thanks to Richard Boyd, David Clayton and Don Bannister for their help on setting this up. The camera takes an image every 10 minutes, so you won't be able to judge landings, but you will be able to get an idea of what the weather is like. Images from the last 24 hours are stored so you can go back in time to see if the weather is improving or deteriorating. Obviously also get a proper weather briefing from the met office or avbrief!
